MONROVIA, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a wrong-way driver who triggered a three-car collision on a Southern California freeway has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada says the driver was heading eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 210 in Monrovia shortly after 1 a.m. Monday.
The car struck a dark sedan that was then rear-ended by another vehicle in the center lane.
Officers arrested a 28-year-old Long Beach man. The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Another driver involved in the crash was also transported to a hospital to be examined.
All westbound lanes were shut down for about 45 minutes while the wreckage was cleared.
