Peace and serenity run through this community

The Bel Air and Abingdon sections of Harford County are rapidly growing, but you wouldn’t know it from Autumn Run, a new townhome community as peaceful and serene as its name sounds.

“Even though it’s kind of centralized in Abingdon and Bel Air, which is a densely populated area, the community itself is set back off Route 7, so it’s not like you’re looking at traffic driving right past your house,” said Jeff Riley, who’s lived in the neighborhood for a few years.

In fact, the 207 home sit on the top of an incline, well removed from the hustle and bustle of the area.

“You drive up a beautiful long road to get to the plateau where the houses are built,” said Chuck Reich, regional director of sales for Gemcraft Homes. “The homes back up to woods or open space. It’s really like your own little private community on top of a hill.”

The three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom townhomes start at 1,200-square-feet, but there are a plethora of options available to buyers. Fireplaces, finished basements, granite countertops, cherry cabinets, nicer appliances and decks all are on the table.

“We liked the ability to upgrade,” Riley said. “We [chose special] kitchen cabinets, a two-story family room, decorative bay windows on the back to increase the square footage and let more light in the windows, upgraded garden tubs, separate showers and a fireplace.”

That’s a mouthful, for sure. But starting at $219,990, the homes are very affordable for the area.

“We have a model with the master suite on the first floor,” said Pat Inman, sales director for Gemcraft. “They’re perfect for empty nesters or young couples just starting out. Bel Air has come a long way and is becoming a real hot spot, with lots of new neat little pubs and shops and boutiques.”

The location is perfect for Riley and his wife, Emily, who have become very good friends with their next-door neighbors and others in the community.

“The location is perfect because both my wife and I work, she works down in Parkville, and I work up in the Bel Air area,” Jeff Riley said. “We had been living in Abingdon since we’d moved to the area, we were younger starting out, and we were looking for a townhome, so it seemed to be the right place at the right time.”
