At the North Carolina Senate debate earlier this week, Democratic senator Kay Hagan admitted she missed an Armed Services committee hearing in February on the emerging threat of ISIS. Conservative organization Crossroads GPS has a new TV ad running in North Carolina that uses Hagan’s explanation against her.
Watch the video below:
Crossroads GPS says it’s made a $5.1 million buy for this and another ad during the month of October.
The issue of Hagan missing the hearing has arisen in some of Republican Thom Tillis’s latest ads as well. Hagan holds a small lead over Tillis in a race Republicans are worried may be getting away from them. Tillis and the GOP are hoping national security concerns can put them over the top:
“While ISIS grew, Obama did nothing,” says one ad’s voiceover. “Senator Hagan did cocktails.”
