Jim Acosta refers to Matt Gaetz and Marjorie Taylor Greene as ‘partners in slime’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is Rep. Matt Gaetz’s “partner in slime,” says CNN’s Jim Acosta.

The pair of Republicans have been “inciting their crowds,” with Gaetz calling for “the ability to maintain an armed rebellion against the government if that becomes necessary” and Greene comparing wearing facial coverings to the Holocaust, actions that Acosta deemed “shameful.”

“What would the Greatest Generation tell us about the peril, the danger, in looking the other way when the forces of fanaticism are on the rise?” Acosta asked of the lawmakers’ words.

JIM ACOSTA CALLS FOX NEWS ‘A BULLS— FACTORY’ ON LIVE TV

Later on CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta, after playing a segment in which a CNN reporter spoke to constituents in Greene’s district, Acosta said of the congresswoman, “I think her brain is broke.”

Greene said on May 21 that Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s requirement for House members to continue wearing masks until they could prove their COVID-19 vaccination status was “exactly the type of abuse” as “a time in history where people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens.” Once she received widespread criticism for the remarks, Greene held her position, saying that the progressives’ support for Palestinians amid the fighting between Israel and Hamas was proof that the “Jihad Squad” was “supporting terrorist Hamas.”

“At a time when the Socialist Democrats and the Jihad Squad are supporting terrorist Hamas, and their supporters are attacking Jewish people on the streets of America, it’s never been more important than now to stand up against forced vaccinations and mask mandates that the Left is using to discriminate against Americans who refuse to comply,” Greene said.

“Their attempts to shame, ostracize, and brand Americans who choose not to get vaccinated or wear a mask are reminiscent of the great tyrants of history who did the same to those who would not comply,” the Florida congresswoman said.

Greene has been touring the country with Gaetz, who has been under federal investigation over charges of sexual relationships with underage women, accusations that he has vehemently denied, touting former President Donald Trump’s “America First” policies.

“‘America First’ isn’t going away. We’re going on tour!” Gaetz told a group of his supporters during an event in his home state of Florida, referencing the former president’s 2020 campaign slogan.

Acosta, a frequent foil to Trump, has attracted controversy during his tenure at CNN.

The CNN anchor, who earlier this month called competitor Fox News a “bulls*** factory” on live TV, drew mockery for posting a photo getting his COVID-19 vaccine while sporting a shirt deemed as “self-flattering,” and he accused Trump of being a “threat” to the United States with the potential to lead a “fringe movement” going forward.

The chief domestic correspondent is frequently met with chants of “CNN sucks!” when covering GOP events. On one occasion, Acosta responded to a crowd of hecklers gathering behind him as he was broadcasting live.

“And as this crowd is chanting that there are members of the press here who suck, I should also point out what also sucks — getting the coronavirus,” he said.
