Jim Corcoran, president and CEO of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, has written a letter to Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell saying that McDonnell’s plan to privatize the state’s liquor stores is a “reasonable option for consideration” in crafting a plan to address the state’s transportation needs.
Transportation remains the chamber’s “top priority and Virginia’s “greatest challenge,” Corcoran wrote.
“Although $400-$500 million – estimated in your proposal and possibly only a one-time infusion – does not address the total monetary need to alleviate the commonwealth’s transportation crisis, we believe it is a reasonable option for consideration in building a plan to fully fund the transportation needs for Virginia,” the letter reads.
