The Caps have made their final training camp cuts with 23-year-old forward Chris Bourque finally cracking the official 23-man roster along with defenseman Tyler Sloan and forward Quintin Laing. Caps coach Bruce Boudreau confirmed the move moments ago after practice at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. Obviously, forwards Eric Fehr (shoulder) and Tomas Fleischmann (blood clot) will both be ready some time in October so Laing and Bourque especially have some work to do to stick around. But neither one cares about that right now. They’ll be on the team plane to Boston for the season-opener against the Bruins on Thursday night and both wore huge smiles on their faces as they headed out for a day of team-bonding activities, including paint ball. More to come in a bit, including reaction from all three players.
