Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien tests positive for COVID-19

President Trump’s campaign manager, Bill Stepien, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Stepien, 42, received his positive diagnosis on Friday evening, according to Politico. The report said the campaign manager is experiencing “mild flu-like symptoms.” He plans on working remotely as he recovers, and Deputy Campaign Manager Justin Clark is expected to oversee the campaign’s headquarters in the meantime.

His diagnosis came the same day as both the Republican National Committee and the White House have been hit with a slew of coronavirus diagnoses. The committee’s chairwoman, Ronna McDaniel, tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, but her diagnosis was not disclosed publicly until Friday.

Additionally, the president, first lady Melania Trump, and White House campaign adviser Hope Hicks tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. The virus has also made its way to both members of the White House press corps as well as Capitol Hill. Sens. Thom Tillis and Mike Lee, both of whom attended Trump’s nominating ceremony of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, also announced positive COVID-19 tests on Friday. A former adviser to President Trump, Kellyanne Conway, who was also at Barrett’s nomination ceremony, has also contracted the virus.

The president traveled to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in the afternoon on Friday after showing “mild symptoms,” and he has been given a dose of remdesivir.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
