Liberals call Dr. Oz Senate bid into question

Liberals are voicing their opinions on the Senate bid of Dr. Mehmet Oz after the cardiac surgeon and TV host announced his candidacy on Monday.

“I’m running for the Senate to empower you to control your destiny, to reinvigorate our great nation, and to reignite the divine spark that we should always be seeing in each other,” he wrote for the Washington Examiner.

Many critics questioned the legitimacy of Oz’s candidacy.

“So on-brand for Republicans. Dr. Oz is running for the US Senate in Pennsylvania,” Hollywood’s self-proclaimed ultimate insider, Mike Sington, posted to Twitter. “The same Dr. Oz who has made false medical claims over and over, advised Trump, and has been labeled a ‘quack’. He makes things up, and deals in junk science. In short, a perfect GOP candidate.”

“With Dr Oz running for US Senate as a Republican I wanted to remind you of his track record: ‘Half of Dr. Oz’s medical advice is baseless or wrong, study says.’ In other words, he’s PERFECT for Trump’s GOP,” liberal radio host Dean Obeidallah tweeted.

“Oz may have to explain why he isn’t running for office in NJ, where he has lived for the past two decades before he began voting in Pennsylvania’s elections this year by absentee ballot, registered to his in-laws’ address in suburban Philadelphia,” Wall Street Journal writer Julie Bykowicz commented.

“I have my differences with every candidate in the field. But as a low bar if you want to be Pennsylvania’s Senator you should live here,” state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, a Democrat and challenger for the Senate seat. “If you want a Senator who is actually from PA, who’ll fight for working families and not scam them, I’m your guy.”

“Injecting bleach and taking hydroxychloroquine were dumb and dangerous ideas to fight COVID. Electing a discredited quack TV doctor from New Jersey to the US Senate is a dumb and dangerous idea for Pennsylvania,” Kenyatta wrote.

“BREAKING: Dr. Oz says he is running for Senate in Pennsylvania as a Republican,” veteran Democratic campaign official Jon Cooper wrote. “Who else wants him to LOSE!”
