‘Shrek the Third’
At least the movie was good.
While the new Shrek film is a treat that can entertain parents and children alike, the game versions of “Shrek the Third” are only suitable for children. Small children.
The game, which is a beat-em-up that plays like “God of War” Jr., follows the story of the movie with enjoyable but simple gameplay. Cut scenes fill in the gaps between the action with an entertaining puppet show narrated by John Cleese.
Overall, the attempts at humor seem forced, and the fixed camera angle can be tremendously frustrating in a game where finding secret items is a majority of completing a level.
The best gameplay rests in the minigames where you take down towers with siege weapons, play pirate ship shuffleboard and protect a beach with a cannon.
See the movie twice, and if you still need more Shrek, rent the game.
