Oops: Daily Mail mangles report on Obama’s next digs

The Daily Mail published a story this week that managed somehow to misspell every mention of the name of the first family’s soon-to-be neighborhood.

The Daily Mail also referred incorrectly to the Washington, D.C., neighborhood as a “suburb.”

The president and his family will lease a $5 million home in Kalorama, which is a neighborhood located near downtown Washington, D.C. For some reason, though, the Daily Mail kept referring to the posh neighborhood as “Karolama.”

The Obama’s new home

“Obamas choose upmarket suburb of Karolama, DC, as their post-White House home so they remain close to Sasha’s High School,” read one line.

Another read, “Obamas are choosing the manicured gardens and marble fountains of Karolama for their new home, according to reports.

“The soon to be former leader of the free world has eschewed Embassy Row, which he had apparently been toying with, and decided upon the salubrious Karolama,” read another instance.

The report goes on like that for quite a bit, misspelling the name of the neighborhood six more times.

The Daily Mail has since corrected its misspellings. It has not, however, corrected its referring to the neighborhood as a “suburb.”
