Constitutional law scholar Jonathan Turley and CNN anchor Jake Tapper traded barbs after Turley cited a retweet from Tapper as evidence of bias in the media against President Trump.
“Tapper’s retweeting that ‘Trump is 100% insane’ only further undermines the media by reaffirming for many that the media is campaigning against Trump rather than covering him,” Turley said Tuesday. “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”

Turley was making reference to a tweet from George Conway, a lawyer and an adviser to an anti-Trump political action committee.
“He’s 100% insane, and nobody in the administration has the balls to tell him that,” Conway said in his tweet, which Tapper retweeted.

Tapper then responded to Turley on Twitter.
“I RTed Conway, a conservative attorney and Trump critic, because he wrote that no one in the administration has the courage to stand up to the president which seems newsworthy given how many people in the administration he knows,” Tapper said. Conway’s wife, Kellyanne Conway, is a top adviser to the president.
George Conway is a frequent target of Trump, who has referred to him as “the husband from hell” and “Mr. Kellyanne Conway.”
Turley has been critical of media coverage of Trump in previous comments.
“The unrelentingly negative spin on stories makes it difficult for viewers to trust the media,” he said last month.
Tapper argued that sharing something to his social media feeds does not mean he endorses the content of the comments made in posts. “RTs do not nec. = agreement,” he said.
