Rubio to Donors: I’m Running

Florida senator Marco Rubio is running for president. The Associated Press reports Rubio told donors Monday he would seek the Republican nomination. Here’s the AP:

Sen. Marco Rubio on Monday took on Hillary Rodham Clinton in his first words as a presidential candidate, telling top donors he is running for the Republican nomination because the 2016 race for the White House should be about the future, not the past.
The first-term Republican from Florida, 43, also told his most generous backers that he feels “uniquely qualified” to pitch his Republican Party as one that will defend the American Dream.

Rubio will speak at Miami’s Freedom Tower Monday evening, during which he’s expected to make the public announcement of his White House plans. He will join fellow GOP senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul as declared candidates in the Republican primary. Former senator and secretary of state Hillary Clinton, a Democrat, is also an active candidate.
