BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) — The McLean County Museum of History in Bloomington is ready to open “Fiesta! A Celebration of Mexican Popular Arts.”
It opens Saturday with museum registrar Terri Clemens giving an overview of the exhibit in the Gov. Fifer Courtroom at 1 p.m.
The exhibit will feature more than 150 pieces of art made by Mexican people. They include ceramics, textiles, carved wood, leather and glass.
Visitors will learn the history of Mexico’s folk art and how it became popular in the United States. It explores the role folk art played in the country’s development after the Mexican Revolution.
There will be a market with various contemporary items sold at Mexican markets and hands-on craft activities as well.
The exhibit runs through Aug. 30, 2014.
