A six-car crash in Frederick County claimed the lives of two women early this morning.
Selly Tle Sin Kai, 33, and Anis Mawi, 46, both of Frederick, were sitting in the back seat of a Toyota Corolla, stuck in traffic on eastbound Interstate 70 just before 5 a.m., when a white Chevy 3500 van hit the back of the car. The Corolla spun out of control and onto the median. Four other vehicles slowing behind the Corolla were caught in a chain reaction and crashed.
Sin Kai and Mawi were killed and eight others were injured in the crash. The two women were not wearing their seatbelts.
The highway was closed down until 10:30 a.m. while police cleaned up the scene. Maryland State Police are investigating the accident.
