The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation got help from local volunteers and FedEx in the kickoff of a program for urban conservation projects in the D.C. metro area.
Called EarthSmart, the cleanup launched last week with a $25,000 donation from FedEx and a planting and trash pickup day at the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens.
FedEx has also pledged to donate 500 trees to be planted in the District during the next two years as part of a $20,000 donation to the Casey Trees foundation.
The EarthSmart partnership between the foundation and FedEx has planted 46,000 trees and native plants and has engaged more than 51,000 community members during the past three years.
