Well, I’m back to relatively good health after being smacked by the flu bug last week. From time to time, my sinuses still feel like there are little caterpillars wriggling around inside, but my head isn’t full of cotton anymore. After calling in sick Thursday, it gave me a full four days away from cartooning, which is good and bad.
Whenyou take some time off, you can come back to the drawing board feeling like there’s a clean, blank slate in front of you. The bad part, however, can be that there’s a clean, blank slate in front of you. And that’s what today felt like. There were plenty of topics to choose from, but they were all disparate. There didn’t seem to be a dominant story. The cartoon above is my attempt (albeit a feeble one) to connect three of the issues into one.
By the way, I added the money stuffed in the politician’s jacket at the last minute. The idea was that it would make the character appear even sleazier. Looking at the finished product, I’m thinking I didn’t need to add the money — it’s a bit of overkill.
