President Trump shared a quote from former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova that Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ recusal from the Russia probe was an “unforced betrayal” of Trump.

DiGenova’s comments were made Wednesday evening in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
Since Sessions’ recusal, Trump has said on multiple occasions he would not have appointed Sessions had he known the former Alabama senator would remove himself from heading the federal probe.

Earlier Wednesday morning, Trump said he wished he had selected someone else for the attorney general, in response to comments Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., made on “CBS This Morning.”
“If I were the President and I picked someone to be the country’s chief law enforcement officer, and they told me later ‘oh by the way I’m not going to be able to participate in the most important case in the office, I would be frustrated too,” Trump tweeted, quoting Gowdy in a series of statements.
“‘Senator Sessions, why didn’t you tell me before I picked you, there are lots of really good lawyers in the country, he could have picked somebody else!’ And I wish I did!” Trump added.
Additionally, the New York Times reported earlier this week that Trump urged Sessions to reverse his recusal back in 2017.
Eventually, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed special counsel Robert Mueller to spearhead the Russia probe.
