FRIENDSWOOD, Texas (AP) — Friendswood Police have arrested two men who they say tried to steal a 72-year-old woman’s purse and were stopped by a Good Samaritan and a couple of grocery store employees.

Police charged 33-year-old Ray Patterson Jr. and 24-year-old Emmanuel Harris with aggravated robbery on Wednesday.

The victim tells police she yelled for help after Patterson stole her purse from her cart in the parking lot. Police say a 23-year-old shopper and two employees chased Patterson as he fled with the bag. They say Patterson threw the purse into a vehicle that sped away.

Police say the shopper held Patterson until officers arrived. Witnesses gave officers the vehicle’s information, which led to the arrest of Harris.

They’re being held at the Galveston County Jail. Online jail records didn’t indicate attorneys.
