SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco police say they’ve arrested a man they believe is responsible for an arson spree in the South of Market neighborhood.

A police statement says the suspect was arrested Wednesday night but other details won’t be released until Thursday.

Police have been hunting an arsonist they say set fires in the past month in and near construction sites. Dumpsters and even a car have been hit.

No injuries have been reported but damage has been put in the tens of thousands of dollars.

On Tuesday, police released photos and video of the suspect, a portly man carrying a shopping bag. In one, he wore a black San Francisco Giants cap.
