Prince George’s officer shot outside nightclub

An off-duty Prince George’s County police officer was shot while working at a Langley Park nightclub by a man she had thrown out of the club.

A patron who was asked to leave the Galaxy nightclub, located on the 2000 block of University Boulevard, early Saturday morning fired shots at the club entrance while driving through the parking lot, according to police. One shot hit Officer Rachael Jacob in the leg.

Kelly Gilliss, 32, of Beltsville, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

Body found in Potomac River near White’s Ferry

A body was pulled out of the Potomac River near Poolesville, Md.

A fisherman found the body about one mile downriver from White’s Ferry Saturday morning, according to Montgomery County police.

Authorities are working to identify the person, an adult male dressed in blue athletic pants, and determine a cause of death. There were no signs of trauma on the body, according to Capt. Paul Starks, police spokesman.

Prince George’s officer indicted for assault

A Prince George’s County police officer, recently recognized for helping evacuate a burning apartment building, has been indicted for assaulting a teenager during a 2011 incident.

Cpl. Ricky Adey allegedly assaulted 13-year-old Kyre Jenkins while responding to reports of gunshots in Capitol Heights on Aug. 4, 2011. According to prosecutors, Adey chased down Jenkins, pulled him off a chain-link fence and held a gun to his head.

Adey, a 10-year veteran of the county police, was charged with first- and second-degree assault and misconduct while in office. He was suspended from the force Thursday.
