What: Israel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, claimed that when Democrats controlled the U.S. House they “passed bills that improved the economy.”
Why it’s dim: For this to be true, the economy would at least have to have improved. But from the time Democrats took control of the House in the 2006 elections to their 2010 ouster, unemployment more than doubled from 4.5 percent to 9.8 percent.
Cure: Reading is fundamental.
