The most powerful man in martial arts is backing President Trump to win reelection.
Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White called the president a “good friend” during a Trump campaign rally in Colorado on Thursday night.
“This guy is so loyal and such a good friend,” White said as Trump stood to the side watching. “He’s a fighter, he loves this country, he’s doing great things for this country, and we got to win this election again ladies and gentleman!”
Trump became the first sitting president to attend a UFC mixed martial arts fight when he witnessed Jorge Masvidal defeat Nate Diaz at Madison Square Garden in November. After the fight, White claimed Trump wanted to attend a UFC fight the day after his 2016 election but had to reschedule.
Several UFC fighters have expressed support for the president, including stars Conor Mcgregor and Colby Covington. McGregor called Trump a “phenomenal president” in January, and Covington said he was going to take his welterweight championship belt and put it on Trump’s Oval Office desk.
During the height of the impeachment investigation, undefeated featherweight fighter Bryce Mitchell told Trump he was available to fight “some politician” if the president commanded.
In 2015, White said he would never say a negative thing about Trump after the businessman supported the fighting series when it was struggling to get off the ground.
“I’m not a very political person, I’ll start there, but let me say this: There’s things that I can tell you about the president of the United States that you don’t hear on TV and you don’t hear from other people,” White said Thursday.
