With every generation of “Mario Kart,” fans see minor tweaks to the fan-favorite racer series.
For the Wii version, the new wheel remote shell gives the game a whole new feel. The remote locks into a wheel-shaped housing which gives you a new level of control over your driver than ever before.
The tilt controls allow excellent new mid-air controls and flips that give boosts on landing, but the motion controls can be touchy when drifting.
Motorcycles are introduced, but present little innovation. They’re pretty much just another style of kart, though they perform much better on jumps.
The majority of items are carried over from previous titles, with the addition of a growth mushroom, a thunder cloud and a POW block.
The game’s excellent use of the Wii’s online features are held back by the lack of voice chat in what would otherwise be a very social online game.
