HAMBURG, N.Y. (AP) — The Erie County Fair has ended its 12-day run by topping the 1 million mark in attendance and setting a record for the second year in a row.
Officials at the fairgrounds in Hamburg, just south of Buffalo, say total attendance this year was just over 1,220,000 after Sunday’s closing day numbers were tallied. That’s 60,000 more than the previous year’s record-setting attendance.
The big crowds for the fair’s 175th edition are being credited to such attractions as Nik Wallenda’s high-wire act performed on Aug. 10.
