City unveils west side design plans

Baltimore City officials and representatives of Lexington Square Partners LLC unveiled the schematic design plans for the $250 million redevelopment of the west side of downtown Baltimore known as the “superblock.” The area is bounded by Howard, West Lexington, Liberty and West Fayette streets. The plans call for 312,595 square feet of retail space designed to attract major retailers to serve as anchor tenants for the neighborhood. More than 400,000 square feet of residential space in two new high-rise structures up to 14 stories tall that will feature 400 one-and two-bedroom 880-square-foot apartments and a rooftop amenity area with a garden and water feature. In addition, there will be a parking garage with 924 parking spaces.
