Woodbridge girl and mother missing since May 2011

Authorities are searching for a Woodbridge girl who went missing in May 2011 after she was picked up from a babysitter by her mother.

Brittany Aldana, now 3 years old, and her mother, 24-year-old Guadalupe Raquel Aldana Flores, were supposed to meet Brittany’s father at the Franconia-Springfield Metro station on May 18, 2011. The mother and daughter never showed, and neither has been seen since.

Both are listed missing at the FBI’s National Crime Information Center, and there are concerns about Brittany’s safety due to some dangerous activity her mother was involved in, according to Maureen Heads, supervisor of the Missing Children’s Division at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, or NCMEC.

Brittany’s father has received two calls from Flores since she went missing to schedule a meeting, but she has never showed.

Originally from Guatemala, authorities believe Flores may still be in the D.C. region or in Chicago.

When she was last seen, Brittany was 2 feet 8 inches tall and roughly 33 pounds. She has a distinguishing pear-shaped birthmark on her left leg around her thigh and has brown eyes and brown hair.

She may be spotted wearing boyish clothing — according to her father, Flores calls her “Tito,” a Spanish nickname for boys, and refuses to dress Brittany in girly clothing or outfits. Brittany’s hair may also have been cut short to mimic a boy’s haircut.

Anyone who has information about her disappearance is asked to call NCMEC at 800-THE-LOST (843-5678).
