A man was stabbed in the chest with a pocket knife after trying to rob two other people in Takoma Park Friday night, police said.
Michael Daniels, 25, of D.C., and another man approached two victims on the 7100 block of Maple Avenue around 10:57 p.m., police said. Daniels and the man with him were armed with either a knife or a gun.

When Daniels demanded the belongings of the victims, one of the victims stabbed Daniels in the chest with a pocket knife. Daniels and his friend both fled on foot, while the robbery victims called Takoma Park police and described Daniels.
Police began to comb nearby streets for Daniels and the other man when they noticed Metro Transit Police and D.C. police arriving at the Takoma Metro station. The officials were treating Daniels, who was rushed to the hospital for surgery in critical condition.
Police have not yet identified the second suspect. He is described as a black man wearing a black jacket and dark jeans. Witnesses saw him boarding a Metro train shortly after the stabbing.
Takoma Park police have applied for an arrest warrant for Daniels, charging him with armed robbery.
