Someone tried to break in to the house of D.C. Council Chairman Vincent Gray, two weeks after thieves stole bikes from the Mayor Adrian Fenty’s home garage.
Gray spokeswoman Traci Hughes said that police notified Gray on Tuesday afternoon after the alarm to Gray’s Hillcrest home sounded. Someone tried to enter by prying the door and shattering a basement window, police said. It doesn’t appear that anybody was able to get inside, and nothing was taken.
Two years ago, someone did succeed in breaking into Gray’s house. He then put up a fence around his Southeast Washington property but was ordered by the District to knock it down or lower it because it exceeded the city’s height limit.
