The owner of an unlicensed home day care in Manassas who was arrested last week is facing additional charges, police said.
Tara Angelyn Loop, 38, was charged Friday with three counts of abduction, according to Prince Williams County police. She was originally arrested Wednesday and charged with four counts of cruelty and injuries to children.
On Oct. 3, officers and Child Protective Services Workers went to Growing Minds Day Care, located at 8581 Somersworth Drive, and found six children under the age of 2 in Loop’s care. Three of the children were unattended in a separate room, police said.
Authorities learned that Loop’s 16-year-old daughter was also being instructed to watch the children and would often work long hours to care for them. Police said that the child cruelty counts relate to the three unattended children and to the daughter being overworked.
After additional investigating, detectives learned that Loop had another daughter remove three children from the home before police showed up. The children, all under the age of 4, were taken to a nearby residence. No one gave Loop permission to have the kids removed.
