Montgomery County police have narrowed their search for a Silver Spring woman who has been missing since August and is in Las Vegas, Nev.
Aster Solomon Gesesse, 34, was last seen leaving her home in a taxi on the 800 block of Houston Avenue on Aug. 30, according to family members. Police now know Gesesse is somewhere in Las Vegas, though local police have yet to locate her in the city, according to Montgomery County police spokeswoman Rebecca Innocenti.
Detectives are still working to find her and ensure Gesesse is safe and in Las Vegas of her own accord. Family and friends who spoke with detectives have expressed concern about her emotional well-being, and police won’t know whether those concerns are warranted until they speak with Gesesse herself.
“A lot of times when people do go missing, family members have a belief about why,” Innocenti said. “Without speaking to her, we are basing our search on information from her friends and family.”
Police described Gesesse as a black female, about 5-foot-5 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. She has brown eyes and was last seen with long, brown hair. Gesesse also has a scar over her right eye.
Anyone with information about the case or who comes into contact with Gesesse is asked to call the police immediately. Tips can be directed to the Montgomery County Police Department’s non-emergency number at 301-279-8000.
