Man convicted of New Year’s Eve 2010 murder
A Hyattsville man was convicted of stabbing a man to death during a New Year’s Eve robbery in 2010.
David Henry Wright, 30, and DeMarco Williams entered the home of 58-year-old Ansel Donovan Whitelocke that night and demanded money. When Whitelocke refused, the two men stabbed him 43 times, according to officials.
Wright was convicted of first-degree felony murder and other charges, and faces a life sentence plus 40 years in prison, according to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Two co-defendants, Williams and Verlyncia Coleman, had already pleaded guilty in the case.
Father-son arrested in iPhone scheme
A father and son were arrested in Prince George’s County for allegedly selling counterfeit iPhones, according to police.
Police were tipped off by two businesses at the Vista Gardens Marketplace in Lanham that Daniel Parker, 47 of Capitol Heights, and Harold Parker, 25, of the District, were scamming customers outside their stores with fake iPhones, which they sold for as much as $250.
The men were arrested on Sept. 12, when they offered the counterfeit product to an undercover Prince George’s County police officer.
The Parkers face charges of counterfeiting, theft between $1,000 and $10,000, and doing business without a license.
Former Fairfax County swim coach indicted
A former Fairfax County swim coach has been indicted by a grand jury on charges that he had sex multiple times with a 17-year-old female swimmer.
Noah Rucker, 39, was arrested by Fairfax County police in June, following reports that he had inappropriate sexual contact with the girl at James Madison High School in 2001. Rucker, then 29, was working as a swim coach at the school.
The Fairfax County Circuit Court scheduled his trial for Nov. 19.
Rucker was charged with three counts of indecent liberties with a minor while in a custodial and/or supervisory position in June.
