A young man drowned in the Potomac River on Friday afternoon, just north of Great Falls, according to Montgomery County police.
Police say the victim, a white male either in his teens or 20s, apparently entered the river south of Riverbend Park in Fairfax County, waded into the middle of the river, and drowned when he became trapped under a rock.
The medical examiner’s office is working to determine the man’s identity. Police said there was no indication of foul play.
