Human remains found in Stafford County ID’d as missing D.C. woman

Skeletal remains found in Stafford County have been identified as a District woman who had been missing since summer 2006, and authorities suspect she might have been slain.

Katherine Bryant was reported missing by family members when she was 33 years old, officials said. She had last been seen in the D.C. area.

On Aug. 16, remains were found in a wooded area near the northbound Exit 140 ramp off of Interstate 95. The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday that the remains were identified as Bryant through DNA.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Bill Kennedy said that Bryant’s cause of death has yet to be determined.
