Car slams into fire engine on Beltway
A Prince George’s County fire engine being used to shield firefighters at crash on the Capitol Beltway was struck by a vehicle, officials said.
At about 2:45 a.m. Saturday, between the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and the Annapolis Road interchanges, a driver of a Lexus slammed into the rear of the fire engine. No one was injured, but the crash caused about $30,000 damage to the fire truck.
Several minutes later, another driver struck the Lexus, the Lexus then narrowly missed the firefighters working alongside the damaged engine. The driver and passengers fled the crash but were arrested about a half-mile away, officials said.
Man killed in bus crash
An Odenton man was killed and 10 people were injured when his car slammed into a Maryland Transit Administration bus and caught fire in Glen Burnie.
Anne Arundel County police say the driver Marcus Anderson, 27, was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at a hospital. His 14-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries as did the bus driver and eight of the 10 passengers on the bus.
Police say Anderson’s car crossed the center line and struck the bus about 9:45 p.m. Saturday.
GW students report sex abuse
Three female students at George Washington University reported being sexually abused during the first two weeks of the academic year.
Each incident involved alcohol and the victims knew the alleged suspects, according to a report in the Hatchet, which cited university police records.
One incident allegedly took place at McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon and another in Georgetown. A third victim anonymously reported two separate instances of sexual abuse by different people on Aug. 29 and Aug. 31.
