Stupid Crimes

Bus-ted

A Cleveland school bus driver helped police nail a woman who repeatedly drove on the sidewalk to avoid waiting for the stopped bus.

The bus driver captured the act on a cellphone video, then contacted police.

Officers waited for the driver the next day, and caught her in the act.

Police identified the driver as Shena Hardin, 32, of Cleveland. She was cited for not stopping for the school bus.

The driver’s mother told NewsNet5.com in Cleveland that Hardin made the move to “give that bus plenty of room.”

Foul language

A Rhode Island woman is facing charges for allegedly training her pet cockatoo to curse at her ex-husband and his girlfriend, who live next door.

Authorities said Lynne Taylor violated an animal noise ordinance by training the bird, Willy, to swear at her neighbors, Kathleen Melker and Craig Fontaine, the Boston Herald reported.

Taylor’s attorney denied the allegations, and said the bird actually says, “knock it off,” a phrase taught by the ex-husband.

The couple says said the bird has forced them to put their home up for sale.

Just let it go, man

A Vermont man had to be rescued from a rock ledge after dropping his computer about 100 feet and attempting to retrieve it.

Police said Randy Lamore, 42, dropped his computer down onto the bank of the Winooski River, WCAX-TV Burlington reported.

Police said Lamore, who had been drinking, attempted to climb down to grab his computer, but became stuck on the ledges in thick underbrush.

The man called 911 on his cellphone and it took about half an hour for rescuers to find him and another hour to pull him to safety.
