Security officers at Washington Dulles International Airport discovered two knives hidden in the lining of the carry-on luggage of a passenger to China.
Transportation Security Administration officers identified the objects Thursday as the suitcase passed through a checkpoint X-ray machine. Officials searched the bag and discovered a switchblade and a “boot knife” concealed and taped beneath the lining of the bottom of the carry-on.
TSA officials said both knives had been “artfully concealed.” Faye Chen, 51, of Mount Airy, was charged with misdemeanor carrying a dangerous article in the airport. Chen, originally ticketed to fly to Beijing, was permitted to continue on her flight without the weapons. There was no impact to airport operations, officials said.
