D.C. man arrested for cousin’s slaying

A Northwest D.C. man has been arrested for his cousin’s slaying, police said.

Arvel Wills, 23, was arrested Thursday based on a warrant charging him with second-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Dewayne Wills, according to D.C. police.

On May 26, Dewayne Wills was taken to a hospital in a privately owned vehicle, following a fight at the intersection of Abbey and L streets in Northeast Washington. He was suffering from a head injury and was admitted to the hospital in critical condition, police said. He died from his injuries on June 4.

The day after Dewayne Wills died, an autopsy was performed. His death was determined to be a homicide caused by blunt-force trauma.
