P.G. family sickened by carbon monoxide
A family of five was taken to a hospital after being exposed to carbon monoxide in their Prince George’s County home, officials said.
Shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, the family members started waking up and complaining of headaches and nausea. Firefighters detected higher than normal levels of carbon monoxide at the house on the 8600 block of Reicher Street in Glenarden.
The mother, father and children, ages 6, 11 and 16, were treated at the scene and taken to a hospital. They were in good condition, officials said.
Arrest made in Southwest D.C. homicide
A man was stabbed and killed in Southwest D.C. early Sunday morning, police said.
Shortly after midnight, police went to the 200 block of N St. SW. Officers found 45-year-old Stephan Pool, of Upper Marlboro, suffering from a stab wound. He died at a hospital.
Leon Allen Smith, 27, was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the homicide.
Man found dead in backyard pool
A Derwood man was found lifeless in his swimming pool, police said.
About 3:15 p.m. Sunday, emergency workers went to the home on the 7000 block of Needwood Road. Mojtaba Tehrani Kia, 59, had been doing yard work in his backyard, and a family member looked out a window and saw him lifeless in the pool.
Kia was wearing swim trunks, and his sandals and towels were next to the pool, Montgomery County police said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Body found in Potomac River
A man’s body was recovered from the Potomac River on Monday afternoon.
About 2:15 p.m. Monday, the harbor patrol was called to the body, which was reported to be in the river north of the Chain Bridge, police spokesman Officer Araz Alali said. Officials had not identified the man by Monday evening.
