A man has been arrested regarding a Southeast D.C. burglary in which another burglary suspect was killed, police said.
Jaren Holley, 21, was arrested on Saturday and is charged with first-degree burglary while armed, according to D.C. police.
About 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Holley and 21-year-old Joel Johnson allegedly used a gun to force a man and woman into their apartment in the 4200 block of First Street SE. Once inside the apartment, a struggle ensued and Johnson was fatally shot, police said. Holley fled the scene.
Johnson had been convicted in the 2010 slaying of Shaw Middle School Principal Brian Betts. He received an 18 month sentence and was released from prison in April.
