Police have arrested an Arizona man who filmed his 16-year-old nephew walking Phoenix streets dressed in a sheet and carrying a fake grenade launcher in an apparent bid to test police responses after the theater shooting in Aurora, Colo.
Michael David Turley, 39, was arrested on Monday over the making of the video, in which an unidentified narrator says he aims to “find out how safe I really am.”
The amateur video, filmed eight days after a Colorado man shot and killed 12 people and wounded 58 during a midnight screening of the new Batman movie, was broadcast on YouTube and titled, “Dark Knight Shooting Response, Rocket Launcher Police Test.”
Police said officers reached the scene about three minutes after receiving numerous emergency calls from passersby, who said the person was pointing a weapon as they drove by.
Devil went down to Georgia
A Georgia man had to be Tasered and dragged away from a van he set on fire outside a hotel.
Jason Blair McKiness, 36, was with a band that had played a show at Duluth’s Sweetwater Bar and Grill that night when he began acting strangely, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.
Band members reportedly told police that McKiness was with them drinking, when the conversation “turned to Jesus.”
McKiness allegedly stated that he was the devil and started acting crazy. He pulled out a pair of butterfly-style knives, and the band members went inside.
When officers arrived, McKiness was sitting on the back bumper of the burning van, even though the fire was starting to come out of the back window.
Bath time
A Pennsylvania woman faced with a search warrant said she was not going anywhere without taking a bath.
The Pocono Mountain Regional Police officers told Marisol Delarosa, 45, that she couldn’t bathe and had to come with them, so she tried to close the door on them, police said.
The warrant was for receiving stolen property.
As the officers went in to arrest Delarosa, she fought with them, prompting an additional charge of resisting arrest.
