Ex-Va. officer sentenced for indecent liberties

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A former Richmond police officer convicted of indecent liberties with a minor will spend a month in jail.

Media outlets say 42-year-old Ronald E. Oaks Jr. pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge Wednesday. A Henrico County Circuit Court judge sentenced Oaks to 12 months in jail with all but one month suspended.

He won’t be required to register as a sex offender.

Oaks was accused of persuading a 15-year-old girl to show him nude photos of herself on her cell phone. He was arrested last November.
