Parents of a missing Fairfax County teen have confirmed that a body found in the woods near the teen’s abandoned car is their son.
Bryan Glenn, 17, who’d been missing since Oct. 1, was found in the woods of Thaiss Park in Fairfax County. Police have yet to confirm the identity of the body, but a statement issued by Glenn’s family confirmed it was him, according to InsideNova.com.
“With tremendous sadness in our hearts, we learned this afternoon of our son Bryan’s death,” Mike and Rosella Glenn said in a statement. “This devastating news has been a great shock to our family and friends. Right now this family and our community are grieving and we need to let the investigation run its course.”
Fairfax County police initially reported Glenn’s death was an apparent suicide in a tweet shortly after Glenn’s body was found, but later rescinded the tweet. The cause of death won’t be confirmed until the medical examiner’s autopsy is complete, police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said Tuesday.
Hundreds of volunteers helped search for Glenn on Monday, an effort organized by Mike Glenn on Facebook.
A vigil has been planned for Glenn, a Woodson High School senior, at the school on Wednesday morning.
