A man suspected of attacking a 72-year-old man with a baseball bat in Prince George’s County has been arrested, police said.
Justin Charles Strong, 22, of Mt. Rainier, was taken into custody on Friday, according to Prince George’s County police. He is charged with attempted first degree murder, first degree assault, armed robbery and other charges.
The incident occurred on Sept. 15 in the 3800 block of Bladensburg Road in Colmar Manor.
A man was waiting at a bus stop when Strong allegedly approached him, pulled out a knife and demanded the victim’s wallet. The suspect walked away when the man refused to hand over his wallet, but he returned a short time later with an aluminum baseball bat and began attacking the victim with it, police said.
A passerby yelled for the attacker to stop, and he ran away. The victim suffered severe injuries and was still at a hospital on Saturday.
