2nd Harford County deputy dies in a week

BEL AIR, Md. (AP) — The Harford County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy has died of a heart attack after attending the funeral of a fallen colleague.

The Sheriff’s Office said 43-year-old Sgt. Ian Loughran died Thursday in his home. The office said the Medical Examiner determined that Loughran had symptoms of a heart attack during a funeral for Cpl. Charles Licato on Wednesday. Licato was killed last week when his cruiser left the road.

Loughran was a 16-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office.
