Cabbie killed in Northeast A cab driver was shot and killed in his cab in the District at around 3:56 a.m. Saturday.

Police said they found Domingo Ezirike, 40, of unknown address, shot, unconscious and not breathing inside his cab at the corner of Anacostia Avenue and Ponds Street NE; he was declared dead at the scene. Police have launched a homicide investigation and are looking for a black man with a dark complection and slim build wearing a light blue jacket. A police spokesman said it was possible Ezirike was shot in an altercation over cab fare but that the motive and situation have not yet been determined.

Man arrested in hit-and-run

Arlington police arrested Marc D. Hicks, 42, of Oxon Hill for striking a pedestrian, fatally wounding him, and driving off.

The deadly hit-and-run occurred Sept. 16 at 3 a.m near the North Rhodes Street ramp on Route 50 eastbound. Evidence left at the scene led police to Hicks, who is being held without bond at the Arlington County Detention Center.

Alexandria sees first murder of 2011

A 40-year-old black man shot to death in Alexandria Thursday night is the city’s first homicide of 2011.

Police found Bob Cory McNeely of Alexandria suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body on the 1200 block of Wythe St. around 10:10 p.m. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Officials will do an autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing, police said. Anyone with information can call the Alexandria police at (703) 838-4444.

Alexandria had two homicides in 2010.
