A researcher with the National Institutes of Health was killed near his home in Baltimore, according to Baltimore police.
Dr. Peter Marvit, 51, was found shot multiple times next to his car Monday evening in the Herring Run Park area of Baltimore, about four blocks from his home. Police said the shooting may have occurred during an attempted robbery.
Marvit was later pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He was also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, according to police.
“NIH can confirm that Dr. Peter Marvit was a contractor withclinicaltrials.gov,” officials at the institute said in a statement. “We would like to extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to Dr. Marvit’s family and friends.”
