A race to the Darwin Awards
To pay homage to a fellow street racer who died in a car crash, drivers blocked part of an interstate highway in Atlanta to spin donuts in their souped-up cars.
A racers put a video of the tomfoolery on YouTube, and now police are investigating.
“That’s just crazy, that’s dangerous, it’s wrong,” Harris Blackwood, director of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, told WSB-TV in Atlanta.
The video showed a red Pontiac, a blue Camaro and a Firebird convertible spinning across several lanes of Interstate 285. The person who made the video told the news station that the donuts were a tribute to a friend who worked on show cars and died in a car crash.
Atlanta has enough crashes without that kind of reckless driving, Blackwood said.
“I have seen and done some stupid things in my life,” Blackwood said. “That’s a whole other realm of stupid.”
That’s a clown question, bro
A Louisiana man was arrested for trespassing after he showed up outside a stranger’s home dressed up as a clown and carrying a knife.
Alexandria police tracked the bozo to a nearby house, where they found 20-year-old Steven Hawthorne with his hands and face painted white, a rainbow wig on his head and a red bandana covering his face.
Hawthorne told police he’d tossed the knife into some bushes and had been smoking marijuana.
I beg your paw-don
A domestic dispute turned into an animal cruelty arrest after a Chihuahua fell out of a woman’s pants leg, police in Colorado said.
Police arrived to find a man and woman arguing. The building manager said the woman, Johna Turner, 39, was drunk and asked her to leave.
Police told her to leave behind a 5-day old Chihuahua puppy until she sobered up.
As she left, someone noticed she had stuffed a puppy down her pants. Turner then shook her leg until the puppy fell out of the right pant leg. She then “threw the puppy into the seat” of a baby stroller, police said.
Turner was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty.
