Two District men pleaded guilty Friday to shooting a man on a Metrobus in 2011, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Delron Atchison, 24, and Vincent Gray, 22, had a fight with the victim, Demetrius Thompson, 22, on the night of Oct. 19, 2011. Following the fight, the two men went to retrieve guns, then found Thompson on a Metrobus at the 2100 block of Alabama Avenue SE early on the morning of Oct. 20, 2011.
Atchinson boarded the bus and shot Thompson twice, according to prosecutors.
Both Atchison and Gray pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. Atchinson also pleaded guilty to three counts of assualt with a dangerous weapon — three other passengers were seated near Thompson at the time of the shooting.
Atchinson faces a maximum of 60 years in prison, while Gray faces up to 18 years in jail under the terms of their plea agreements.
Sentencings for each man are scheduled for Dec. 14.
