Montgomery County police are searching for a robber who held up a cab driver at knifepoint.
A woman hailed a Barwood cab driver at about 6:20 p.m. Thursday near Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road in Silver Spring, then pulled a 12-inch knife on the driver when they arrived at the Capital One Bank branch at 8676 Georgia Ave., demanding his money and credit cards.
The woman, still holding the knife, and cab driver then walked to an ATM together, where she demanded the driver’s bank card PIN. She withdrew money from the machine, then fled to the Silver Spring Metro station.
Police described the robber as a black female, about 20 to 30 years old, with a light complexion. Anyone with information about the culprit or robbery is asked to call Montgomery County police at 240-773-5100.
