Menagerie of animals seized from home

Dozens of animals — ranging from dogs and cats to a kinkajou and a tarantula — have been removed from an Anne Arundel County property, officials said.

Charges are pending against the owner, whom officials did not identify.

Anne Arundel County Animal Control removed 40 live animals from inside a home on the 8000 block of Lockwood Road in Pasadena. Seized were dogs, turtles, birds, chickens, a cat, a goat, a pig, a chinchilla, snakes, fish, geese, one duck, one kinkajou, and one tarantula.

A dead rabbit and dead quail were also removed.

Most of the animals had no food or water, authorities said.

Contractor burned at site of collapsed roof

A contractor was severely burned while repairing a Landover warehouse where a roof collapsed in June.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday, a flash fire or an electrical arc burned a man, believed to be in his 50s, while he was working on repairs in or near an underground vault at the warehouse at 1501 Cabin Branch Drive in Landover, according to Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department spokesman Mark Brady.

The man, who suffered second-degree burns to his upper body, was transported to a local hospital, according to Brady.

The roof collapsed on June 28 while more than a dozen people were inside. One worker’s body was found in the rubble days later.
